Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward stopped by Elon this Thursday, September 29th, for the University's annual Fall Convocation. Most famous for his investigative reporting on the Watergate Scandal in the 1970's, Woodward spoke to the Elon community about the current political climate, his work as a journalist and even his liberal arts education.
Woodward took a unique spin on this years Convocation. He allowed the audience to interact with him as he asked 10 questions which prompted everyone to raise their hands if they agreed. Introducing him on stage was Elon's Provost Dr. House who described Woodward as someone who exemplifies the goals of a liberal arts education.
During his 90 minutes, Woodward highlighted some of his relationships with the past eight presidents. A notable interview, he recalls was Gerald Ford. Ford opened up to Woodward about his pardoning of Richard Nixon, saying it was necessary for the country to move on. Woodward is still writing for the Washington Post and continues to interact with and investigate a variety of political topics.
